Quick Update

Hey, I posted my work for the day.  I need to go to bed, so I don't want to make builds for all platforms right now, but I figured I would put it up so people can potentially help test it. I haven't tested it much myself, but I will test it tomorrow. If you are a Steam-head, I didn't push this update to Steam, sorry.

Edit: Now that I've had a sleep, I made builds for Mac, Linux and all platforms on Steam. Check it out.

Trading System Changes

Wow, there are a lot of quality-of-life changes related to trading in this version, even though it's so late.

  • NPCs now comment on your items when you put them down in the trading field, not when you click on them in your bag.
  • NPCs will not retract their offer if you reorganize your bag (take items out) after they put their item in the trading field. When you lock in the trade by putting their item in your bag, they will only grab the items that were on the field when they accepted the offer, and ignore your other stuff.
  • NPCs no longer say "Expanding your offer?" or similar comments when you reorganize your bag after they put their item in the trading field.
  • NPCs no longer say things like "Oh, you don't want it?" when you deselect an item that you previously traded to them. Some NPC trade dialogue was also modified so if the NPC has certain items they refuse to trade, they won't make this kind of comment at all.
  • Once a trade finishes, you are allowed to close the trade screen even if you haven't put all of your items back inside your bag. The items outside your bag will be thrown.

Trade Changes

The following changes might not appear unless you start a new save file.

  • Hints are now cheaper.
  • The Jetpack is now cheaper.
  • The Rare Shrooms in the secret rare shroom shop are now cheaper.
  • The Wings now require 2x Pink Paperclip instead of one. They are so powerful, so I thought it should be more difficult to get them. But how can you get a second Pink Paperclip without being forced into a life of crime? Maybe there's now a Hint that will give you some information.

Other Changes

  • Added a laser sight for throwing. In addition to making precise throws easier, this makes it a little more obvious to new players that items are actually throwable, and how the direction is determined.
  • Basic Shrooms should now be a little more common in the locked zones.
  • Changed the memory placement algorithm for Normal difficulty worlds, because it was being weird and boring.  I don't know if it's really much better now though.
  • The background color in the ending now matches the background color of the title screen when in a non-default world.
  • Fixed a bug where typing X (the default jump button) in the contract would close the name-typing field.
  • Fixed a bug involving closing the world generation screen when the Help text was visible.
  •  Fixed a bug with the Shroom Shuffle in world generation. It was supposed to shuffle things in a way so that no shrooms were in their original native zones. But sometimes it wouldn't do this, and it was even theoretically possible to get a "shuffle" that doesn't change anything.
  • Fixed a bug where a certain looping sound effect sometimes didn't stop playing when you enter the ending credits.
  • Fixed a bug where some items in the museum didn't have gravity until you picked up and threw them.
  • Fixed a bug where surprise boxes in the museum didn't randomize shroom color.
  • Made a last attempt to fix the bug where the Citey music sometimes plays at high pitch after doing the Legendary Tree quest. I still have no idea why it happens but I just made it so every time the game plays a music track, it tries to reset the pitch to normal. If it still happens after this, I'm out of ideas.

I'm dreaming of a Mushroom World. After any final bug fixes are applied, this will be the base for the release version!
