The Game Is Loose!!

Clockwork Calamity in Mushroom World is finally released!

It's available for Windows, Mac, and Linux (targeted at Ubuntu, though it may work on other Linux distributions, but it probably has to be x86_64 architecture and not ARM).

It costs $12 but there is a 12% Launch Discount so it really costs $10.56 right now. The discount will last for a week. Oh and it's also part of the Queer Games Bundle ($60) which is a bundle where you can support many game developers at once by buying it.

Thank you so much to everyone who bought and played the Early Access version. The world is amazing because of you.

If you didn't buy it already, please buy it and tell all your friends about it if you like it.

What is this?

This is an open world platformer-game made by Sylvie and Hubol. You explore a world that has a mix of lovely hand-crafted areas and the procedurally generated labyrinths of hell known only as Mushroom Zones. Collect various kinds of Mushrooms and carefully place them in your Bag with pixel perfect precision. Then you can Trade with strange and cute characters to get new items. Maybe they'll help you get to new places or maybe they're just silly. There are so many fun things to discover and the graphics are so colourful, and there is a great fully lyrical soundtrack. It really is a world like no other.

Steam vs. Itch

This world is also available on Steam. If you buy it on Itch, you will get a Steam key anyways, and we will get slightly more money since Itch takes a smaller cut of the sales by default. Also, if you want to get it through the Queer Games Bundle, then Itch is the only place to purchase the bundle.

However, if you buy it on Steam, you will be able to leave a positive review that improves our standing in the Steam world. If you use a Steam key obtained from Itch, then Steam doesn't care about your review. Steam has a bigger userbase than Itch so if we become popular on Steam, it could be really great. So it would be nice if some people get it on Steam.

You shouldn't worry too much about what is the best way to support us, and instead just get it on whichever platform you prefer. After all, the best way to support us is to actually to buy it on both Steam and Itch.

Changes from Early Access

There are a couple of things that changed since the last update, here they are.

  • Important: The "game clear" and "all hands clear" flags were moved to a different save file (global instead of world-specific). So it might not recognize you as having completed the game when you load your save until you rewatch the ending.
  • Added screen wrap to the final room to reduce the possibility that you get stuck in it somehow. You can press Up and Down on the world select screen to scroll through the worlds you have previously visited (including the initial world EIVLYS).
  •  There are a few typo fixes in dialogue.
  • Fixed a bug where if you completed a heist, but didn't get your loot from the thief yet, then NPC dialogue would trigger every time you closed the trade screen.
  •  Fixed a bug where moving items around the field while trading would sometimes get the trade "stuck" and your offer wouldn't get evaluated.
  •  Fixed a bug where the Racerunner's dialogue after you lose wasn't working.
  • Fixed a bug where it would briefly show the Talk/Trade text after clearing the textbox when you try to open your bag in the clock tower.
  • I think the music pitch bug after the Legendary Tree scene was fixed, but it was also lowering the volume in addition to increasing the pitch, so I fixed the volume too.

Damn. The "alternate" town music was heckin' rad and also temporary.
